What To Expect The First Time You Visit Prosper



Even exciting experiences — like visiting a dispensary you’ve never been to before — can be a little nerve wracking. When you know what to expect, some of that nervousness can fade away.


We welcome everyone at Prosper, whether you’ve never tried cannabis before, haven’t touched it in decades, or are a frequent user.


“It’s our focus to make sure that people have a great first experience when they come into our dispensary,” says Dominic Iemma, Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Prosper.


Here’s a step by step breakdown of what to expect on your first visit.




On any of your visits to Prosper, you need to bring a valid ID whether you’re purchasing recreational or medical marijuana. Your ID can be from any state.


If you’re a medical patient, you also need to bring your medical marijuana card. Michigan accepts out of state medical marijuana cards from states where medical marijuana is legalized.


As for payment, we accept cash only so we have two ATMs conveniently located in our facility.




The first thing you’ll do is show your ID and medical marijuana card at a security checkpoint. Then, you’ll head to the intake desk. You’ll be asked if you want to sign up for our Prosper perks loyalty program to stay informed of specials and to earn discounts.




At the intake desk, you’ll also be asked if you want a private consultation in one of the Cannsult rooms. At that time, you can share what brought you into Prosper. There are a lot of reasons people use cannabis, Iemma says, like having trouble sleeping or having anxiety. Whatever your reason for coming in, we know it can be awkward to share your personal situation in a public setting.


If you do opt for a private consultation, our Cannsultants have extensive knowledge to help you get the product that’s right for you.


“We’ve hired super friendly, knowledgeable people,” Iemma says. “Whether it’s your first time at a dispensary or your hundredth time at a dispensary, our whole purpose is to make you feel comfortable when you come in.”




If you don’t want to talk with a Cannsultant at that time, you’ll wait in the reception area until the next available Cannsultant is ready to take you to the sales floor. On the sales floor, you’ll see different displays showcasing different products. Your Cannsultant will ask about your experience level with cannabis and what you’re looking for — edibles, marijuana flower, tinctures, whatever it may be — or they can help you figure out what’s right for you.


Your Cannsultant will walk you around the sales floor so you can look at different products. As you decide what you like, your Cannsultant will put your order in via their tablet so you don’t have to keep track on your own. If you’re interested in getting flower, your Cannsultant will walk you to the deli-style flower area, where we’ll weigh the flower out in front of you.


It’s set up in what we call the marijuana matrix. It’s something unique to Prosper.


“We’ve worked hard on this marijuana matrix to make sure that people know what to expect when they’re buying a different kind of marijuana flower,” Iemma says. “On one side are strains that are more for a cerebral buzz, or a mind buzz. And then as you go across the marijuana matrix, it gets into stuff that’s more of a body high or relaxing, something that won’t stimulate your mind so much.”


If you purchased anything else, the rest of your order will be brought out to you in a bag. A Cannsultant will make sure you’re satisfied, walk you out, and hope to see you again!



If there’s anything that catches people by surprise on their first visit, it’s Prosper’s size, Iemma says. Prosper is larger than 6,000 square feet!


“Hands down, we want people to feel free to ask questions,” Iemma says. “We want to listen to people’s ideas to do what it takes to make sure everybody has a great customer experience.”
